Ramadan 2025 in the UAE
The moon sighting committee has confirmed the start date
The UAE moon-sighting committee has officially confirmed the Ramadan start date for 2025.
It has now been confirmed that Ramadan 2025 will begin on Saturday March 1.
The crescent moon was sighted on Friday evening, meaning February 28 is the last day of the month of Sha’ban and Ramadan begins the following day.
The month of fasting is tied to the Islamic Hijri calendar and can only begin once the UAE moon sighting committee spots the crescent moon of Sha’ban.
What does it mean to the employers?
Ramadan Working hours:
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has officially confirmed the working hours for the private sector during Ramadan in 2025.
The announcement was made on social media, following the update from the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources regarding public sector working hours.
Private sector employees in the UAE will have a reduced workday by two hours during the month.
Depending on the nature of their work, employees may also be eligible for flexible or remote work arrangements throughout the month.
